There are 25 events that are registered with the Marche Association of Historical Re-enactments, and 9 of them take place in Macerata Province. It is thanks to these events that every year our area from the beginning of May to the end of August can offer to visitors and local people alike the opportunity to take an exciting trip into the past, covering a time span from the 13th to the 17th century. These historical pageants are important because they allow us to rediscover and appreciate the traditions and culture of a community, as well as being an excellent way of promoting tourism. These initiatives are so much a part of the places where they are held that they could not possibly be replicated elsewhere. This means that they take pride of place in presenting and publicising the splendid villages of Macerata Province, which are always beautifully decorated for the occasion. Their success can be attributed to various factors, but probably the most important is the faithful reconstruction of the events that are recounted, based on an in-depth study of the historical sources. The gap between past and present is thus removed and the event is experienced on a personal level by spectators. Fondazione Carima therefore decided to dedicate a section of the TUMA portal to the season of historical re-enactments in order to give due importance to this wealth of ideas, people and experience at the service of the promotion of tourism in Macerata Province.
